YES !!!! Finally No Banding !!!! Thanks for the Gimp + Gutenprint tip. I just installed it on my mac and it worked ! Im having a bit of issues with ghosting now but im getting there !! What settings do you all recomend from guttenprint + 1100 ?

I did 2 test prints:

720 DPI High Quality

720 DPI High Quality-CROP

1440 x 1440 DPI - GRAYSCALE Mode

For this last print i used a paper that i had used before and had the top of the I already printed

Looks like your ready to print on T's now... The "ghosting" will likely go away when the ink is fully absorbed by the shirt and not allowed to over spray.

The latest Gimp version does not work with gutenprint on XP. But version 2.6.8 works fine under XP.

High quality 720 should be good enough...

Also ghosting / fuzzy prints sometimes can happen if your printhead is too far from the shirt.

I have. I forgot what I did exactly but recalled installing the files in a separate folder and deleting a duplicate copy of the gimpgui2.exe file in the documents folder. I think a duplicate copy is causing the problem

Mine is 2.6.11 on an XP. Maybe service pack 2. Is 11 eleven?

BTW, where do I check for the SP version?

I would also appreciate the PE, as well as PF and ASF pictures + everything that is pulled out from the original printer box. How helpful is the R1900 cluebook on this project?

Chucky, Bro James and all.

Here is a rundown of the components of my 1100 DTG and how i set it up. I basicly followed all the videos & materials found here http://diydtg.wikispaces.com/ including the Cluebook. There are much nicer/cleaner builds out there than mine, mine is a mess for now.

Hope this helps.

PE Sensor location

Motherboard position.

Ink Waste

Drawer Slider Position

Friction drive rod

Drawer Out + Platen I will be redesigning my platen. Mine's horrible.

ASF Mod

Nice pics and thanks. I did saw a video where a hole was drilled on the base board so the waste ink hose is inserted through the hole into the waste tank.

The platen does look wobbly. So you just remove the PE (pic 1) and hang it (Pic 2) in the right location to detect the platen? What mod is done to the ASF?

What does the bottom of the platen looks like? Sorry if I missed the post but do you have some tape or anything for friction with the rod?

Who has used their DTGs for the longest or most prints? Is the friction or anti-slip coating on the rod durable considering that it was designed for paper but is not rolling a heavier drawer + platen + shirt?

in my opinion the banding image/text cause :
1.friction (its must excactly move, not too heavy/light and check tight motor belt)
2. Gap printhead and platen (use manual adjustment to distance)
if both perfect banding image will gone

if gutenprint can't install you must update microsoft net Framework 3.0 or newer (see add/remove program in control panel)
