so do you know where to get the repair manual for the 1100 or is that something that wont really help with this build? i will be starting mine next week so any advise would be great. anyone know where to find instructions for disassembling this machine are? thanks guys

ok so i am looking at the v2 build from the wiki site, does anyone that has built the 1100 know if that is simular enough to start assembly from those plans????

so no one answered earlier, does anyone have an opinion on whether friction or belt drive is a better way to go with this build??

The r1900 and 1100 are very, very similar in parts. However the BIG difference is that the v2 plans are meant to be used in "roll mode", and the 1100 only works in "sheet mode". Also the r1900 has and additional sensor for printing on cds.

so in your opinion is the belt or friction drive the best way to go like in v2?

This has been discussed a lot in this forum - although there may be some differing opinions out there, it seems like friction drive is the preferred method for most DIY builds.

it looks like the easier of the two as well. thanks. i should have my printer in the mail next week and i cant wait to get this going. i know without all of you guy support i could never pull this off, but i feel real comfortable that i can do it with everyone here. thanks

Hey Guys, Thanks to everyone for their help. This project would of been impossible without everyones input. Have made some progress in the last few days. A few days ago got stuck with a problem in the PF sensor encoder wheel straitened the wheel out a bit and it seems to be working now, but i did run out of epson ink today! Looks like i'm gonna have get some new ink for testing.


This is how it was printing before.


Thins is how its printing now.


Hopefully ill get a good image soon.

Still looks like your platen is skipping. You shouldn't be getting that kind of banding.

the pics are a lil to close, cant really see anything on the printer. does look like are making progress though, good job, cant wait till my printer gets her next week!

Hi Chucky,

Don't wait for the printer to get started, you can start building your drawer . I thought this is just a simple project, there are so many things to consider .

i went to lowes yesterday and got all the stuff to build the base with. did you put that slot in your drawer like the v2 on wiki has. thats kinda where im worried about going wrong.
