Default Brother GT-541 DTG info - can you print non t-shirt items?

Hi,

I'm really thinking about purchasing a Brother GT-541.

The thing I've noticed most is that the majority of other DTG printers advertise the ability to print other materials, for example, plastics, golf balls, woods.....

Has anybody tried this with the Brother ???

Our main business is T-shirts. Always has been. I don't care to print on a ton of other stuff. Shirts are cheap and easy and allow for a great markup.

yes but, how about upselling coasters to the guy that came in and got t-shirts for his beer drinking club? Or upselling totes, to the lady that comes in and wants images of her grandkids on t-shirts......how cool to be able to tell her that she can also have her grandchilds fav art work put on a bag. Oooooohhhhhhhhhh the possiblities (make me see $$ signs)

Ive printed on stone coasters, baby clothing, spirit towels, golf towels, pillow cases, beach towels, totes, aprons. So far, if its been flat and relatively absorbent, Ive tried to print on it. My brick vaneer piece was too thick and I couldnt get it past the safety bar. But dont think I havent thought of other things. Oh!! how about socks? So many possiblities!

I agree the Brother is great!! I have done mostly t-shirts and sweatshirts and some adult Hoodies, with out any problems. The infant hoodie had a nylon zipper and when I heat pressed it melted. I will pay more attention next time to the accessories. Barb

Have you purchased your GT-541? I have one and I love it. I have screen printed and there is no comparison. I used a pad printer to print on hard surfaces (golf balls, glass, plastic, etc.). I have not tried any thing but fabric on the GT-541. With the comments listed below, I might just try experimenting :-).

I've had a brother for about 5 months now and it's great. I printed on some tanned leather pieces not to long ago and it turned out really good. I also printed on some tile pieces but I had the spray it with a clear coat to keep it from wiping off.

You can print on towels. it gives you a soft feel instead of that brittle rough feeling screen printing does

Towels are great when printed on the Brother. They have a soft feel. Experiment with the platen height. Sometimes I drop mine to "B" or "C" so the towel won't catch. I also keep in mind that I'll be dropping the platen when I do a design. So, on a towel, I myself wouldn't try to print a wordy poem that might look blurry from me dropping the platen.
