Default [BROTHER DTG] No Print Preview? What do you do? Almost ready to give up

I didn't realize how much computer knowledge would be needed to make t-shirts. I'm an artist, I obtained a brother DTG printer so I thought I could make t-shirts. Well... i finally got a few orders. Fairly simple designs for youth football parents. After spending hours and hours getting use to inkscape I finally came up with the design, but there's NO PRINT PREVIEW! It's useless with out it. Am I suppose to just keep printing and adjusting until it's right? Of course not. What do all of you do? Any help would be appreciated but please if you're giving me tech (computer) advice pretend you're talking to a moron because I guess you are.
If it matters I'm making 15 shirts. All have the same design on the front and all are differnt on the back (names and #'s)
Thanks

Maybe you need to have someone prep the design for you and send it back ready to print. There are people on this forum that do this. A little late but you should not have taken the job without a little practice first. I use Corel so I cannot help with Inkscape issues. I know there are people here who use Inkscape. Maybe they will chime in. I am sure there is a way to do a print preview. Good luck!

You can probably install an application that will let you print to a .pdf file. It shows up as a printer so when you click print it just generates a .pdf instead of being sent to a physical printer.

Gotta be an easier way though.

When you select the printer to use one of the selections should be "Brother GT541 File Output" or the 782 if that is what you have. If you select that and print the computer will show on the screen how it is going to print, how much ink it will take and other information. It's basically Print Preview with extra information. It takes the computer a couple of seconds to generate the information but it pops up right on the screen.

This is how it works on mine but it should work the same for you.

I don't know anything about inkscape.

I'd drop inkscape. Open source vector art is a cool idea, but it still seems a ways away from production ready.

I use illustrator and we use illustrator PDF's for all of our file storage in house so we can see what every file is in acrobat (which functions as a print preview.)

Good luck with it. Prepress is a skill unto itself. Maybe you should look into bringing on a part time prepress guy to get you setup and maybe train you on some of the basics.
