Default How much RAM are you using to power your Mod 1 Workstation?

We are currently running our Mod 1 from a dedicated PC, nothing else runs on that machine, just power rip, mod queue manager, bq utility, and Photoshop.

Its a pc runnning XP 32 bit and just under 4 gigs of Ram.

In our current shop setup its fast enough, though we do have to wait for a while for rendering, especially when prepping files to print on black T's.

We are probably moving the machine into a retail environment though, and waiting that long with customers in the store, sometimes several at once, could be a problem.

Is anyone using a much faster pc? lots more Ram? how much faster will power rip run to render files for print?

I'm thinking of upgrading to a much faster PC, running up to 16 gigs of ram if necessary, if it means much less wait time when the store will be busy printing a lot of one-offs.

Any thoughts?

Alex, more ram is always better. That being said, 4g of ram is enough. Some of the files do take awhile to rip and you may notice a difference from XP to Windows 7. You can print the file while it's ripping, so you shouldn't have to wait unless the image is small. Then the printer will print faster than it can RIP. When you start ripping the file, watch the MQM. When the file drops in there, typically within 5 seconds, you can send your shirt in to begin printing.
