Default 1001D error

Having a problem with my flexi-jet L.
Everything works fine up until the printer moves forward to the print position. When the head moves over to start printing, it stops right before it drops ink and the error code 1001D pops up.
I'm confused by this because before it moves forward to the print position, the head moves all the way from right to left then back, then the printer moves forward to the print position. In the past when we got that error code, the head would not move from one side to the other. The sensor is clean and the strip going through the sensor is clean and centered.
Please help!
Thanks,
Rick

That is an odd place for that to occur. Please call me at the number below.

I had the same error for my viper and I noticed that the sensor for the tape was not sitting properly. Just check if the tape is really parallel through the sensor

The tape is dead centered and the sensor is somewhat new.

Also have noticed that I can't do a deep power clean by communicating with the printer through the computer. It doesn't recognized the printer. It does however when we go to try and print.
Thanks,
Rick

There are several solutions to this error code. Usually if it happens at the same moment that the original poster explained it is something with the belt slipping. First try cleaning out all the teeth on the CR Motor gear. Also check that the belt is being held firmly in place by the belt clamp on the carriage. Move the carriage to the middle and remove the belt from the motor. Hold the carriage in place with one hand and pull on the belt with the other. The belt should not move. If it does then the is something wrong with the belt clamp on the carriage. Most of the time it is two small plastic tabs that break off on the top piece of the belt clamp.

For now (I did not fix the problem yet) but what you have described is very possible.... When I pull the belt the carrige overjump for one little step.
you said "Most of the time it is two small plastic tabs that break off on the top piece of the belt clamp."

Can you please send me the photo of those two small plastic tabs please?

I don't know exactly where they should be...

Thank you very much...this was very useful
you are the best

Finally!!! Now it seems very logical but when you can't print it is too hard to follow the logic...
I was like if I can do the head cleaning with no problem than it is not the problem with CR motor because he is moving the carriage left and right while doing the head cleaning.... wrong!!! It was the CR motor. Replaced and finely have smile on my face.... thank you for the tips...
