Hi Mike ,
Welcome to the forum , I initially bought a new clam shell heat press from ebay . It was not very good at all , this was in 2007 I think . I could not press T-shirt transfers , I was finally able to press mouse mats with a sublimation print by pressing 1.5 minutes , opening press turning mouse mat 180 and pressing again . the heat and pressure the press applied was not even . I wasted so much money on materials and time trying to get it to work . I bought another press on ebay a second hand Insta swing away press , it is a workhorse , the difference is amazing . something like 20 inch x 15 inch press area . Had it shipped via pack & send . Best thing I ever did buying a brand press . If you already have a press I would look for a second hand Insta , Hix or another known brand press . Bought mine for $1000 plus shipping .

If you had the money and wanted to buy new I would look at these , hopefully you find a distributor on your side of Australia . These links will give you an idea of the presses available here anyway .

Picture Perfect Products

also have a look at the presses available at GJS Machinery https://www.gjsmachinery.com.au/index.asp

Roxcell may be able to get the larger Hix Press

Flexiprint Australia - Iron On Transfers, Heat Press Machines, Numbers and Lettering - Heat Press Machines available in Australia also you could have a look at the range at Flexiprint .

Hi Mike

I can recommend John from Stickem signs, Hamilton Hill. He has three or four different sizes and his prices are really good. I can only find his mobile number and not his landland so I will PM it to you.

Hi
the first press we bought was a HIx from Picture perfect products. Terry was really helpful with after sales service. We have had the machine for 4 years with no problems at all apart from the occasional new fuse needed. It is 40 x40cm and is great for most shirts as it is big enough. It is a manual heatpress and unfortunately I cant actually pull the top down, but gives my husband something to do!

The other machine we bought last march and it is an insta automatic. This requires a compressor to work, but means that girls and weedy lads can use it. There are a number of interchangeable platens with this one, which I have found very handy. The only con of this is that the pressure can be a bit too high at times.

Good heat presses are about $3- $5K depending on whether it is automatic or not.

Wikesy, how did you go with your search?

I am also looking to a press in Perth, not too much luck as yet. I ventured down to Hamilton Hill to Stikem Signs today but the shop was closed (if i went to the right one.. got there bit late)... mite try find a email addy and shoot one through
Couple other sign supplies places pop up in searches, only 1 with a site so far and was very expensive :/
