Hi

I am 3 months into my new sticker/sign business. Just wondering how you went with your pricing? I was given a pricing formula by the person I bought the equipment from but not sure if it's overpriced.

the funny but simple answer is over charge. On one foot of vinyl I can get 3 wide and 2 high for total of 6 designs (sports, car window decals) and charge $10 a piece for diamond plate or holographic vinyl with team name and player number included. $60 for about a half hour work. I discount for quantity down to $8 for 5 or more.

No complaints so far at those price points.

Thanks James. I've been worried that I have been overcharging people but it looks like it's fairly standard way of pricing. Do you do heat transfer vinyl too? Do you have a pricing formula for that? I've just started doing heat transfer and not sure whether to price it the same as what I do with standard vinyl or not.

There was a post on here from Josh at imprintables with a YouTube video on how to do it but it's different to what I do with the standard vinyl stickers. I was thinking of starting a thread to see how others do it here in Australia.

I basically do the same with heat press vinyl. For example, I did a red t shirt with white vinyl lettering that said "55 million > 206 million" and charged $15. It was 4in tall by 10in wide total.

Custom product, premium price.

i usually charge 15-20 bucks for the rear of a shirt, also depends on the design and how much weeding is needed.
surnames on sports shirts i charge $15 if its a one off and $10 if I'm doing a team, numbers i charge $7 each.

i also charge extra if they come in and want it the same day, in that case I'll charge 40-50 bucks and only had a few whingers.
if they don't like it they can go find someone else who will do it cheaper.

once you factor in cost the of the vinyl, cost of the machine, costs of running your shop, plus your time, i think its a reasonable price to pay for a custom job.

it cost me 380 bucks to get a drain unblocked and the plumber was there for 15 minutes, i reckon for what we do we don't charge enough.
