Default First DTG printer purchase help

Im looking at purchasing our first dtg printer for my startup.

Im in atlantic canada and we are limited to what is available, also the exchange rate is brutal right now.

There a factory refurbished and still sealed in the crate from anajet mp10i about 17 hours from me that they are asking 9k Canadian for.

is that a reasonable price? what does the refurbishment entail? what did this cost new?

whats the lifespan of these unit before they require another "factory refresh"

the epson f series seams out of my budget and i cant find a local dealer for anything dtg related so this anajet seams like my best bet right now.

To be honest the DTG printers are not for startups.
If you don't have a lot off shirts to print your chance of success is slim.

DTG is great for startups -- if you actually have a well thought-out business plan in place and you have the chops and hustle to execute on it. But yeah, it will be easier of you have an existing apparel/promo business already. And you're absolutely right, if you can't do the volume, it's not going to work!
DTG Merch likes this.

i have several ideas lined up to utilize it , my wife does as well.

Im more concerned with getting a unit thats no longer in production. The unit im looking at has an asking price of 8 grand sealed in the box from anajet after a refub, i know new ones are more and thats fine but there seams to be a lot on the market now some of which im sure is junk.

I understand anajet is now ricoh but the new ricoh units seams wayyy out of my price range.

Are you aware you can buy a Epson 7210 for $150.00. Are you aware that a DTG printer is a Ink Jet printer selling for thousands of dollars.
Add a white toner printer to your Epson and you have a better system to print more substrates then just shirts.

Yeah transfers are always an option as well, but as with all of these technologies, one will need to consider if the quality meets their standards and if trying to convert a paper printer is a practical option. Purpose-built DTG printers have come a long way in terms of maintenance and ease of use!

Side note: Very cool that you developed the white toner for Okidata! I wrote some blog posts about it years ago for an OKI reseller

I don't have a DTG printer. But from what I've read on this forum I would never even consider buying Anajet.
