Default ??? about an Anajet Sprint

I am looking to purchase a used Anajet Sprint DTG printer. Can anyone give me some insight on this printer? I am new to DTG so I am going to go see the printer and watch it print this weekend. I am wondering if you can still purchase parts for this printer, specifically print heads in case one goes out. They are asking $3500 for the printer and since I work out of my home for now I really can't afford to purchase a brand new DTG printer. Any input, advice, comments are appreciated. Thanks

I can't remember what printhead model it is but you should be able to purchase replacements. But it is not a great machine. One of the main things is a lack of white ink management - if you leave it idle over a weekend then you'll have to do an ink charge on the monday and at the end of the week you'll weep at the amount of waste ink you're tipping out.

I think because of the printers age / problems / no back-up support ... it will be a bad investment.

Thanks for the information! So I am really needing to try and find a used machine very soon because right now I am paying someone else to print my DTG and although she is giving me great pricing, my business has really increased over the past month and I have paid out around $3000 for the DTG printing. Can you give some suggestions on some good machines that I should look for and possibly give me some insight on things I should look for or at least point me in the right direction? thanks

I’m currently using an anajet sprint. I replaced my printer head last November for about $400 and it was not hard to find. I would only recommend the sprint if you have a lot of patience lol.

It prints pretty fast. It’s just that when things go wrong, you have to do some digging to find the problem. Other than that, I use my Sprint everyday.

nope. not for $3,500. maybe $15-1,800, but you need to see it in action. don't buy it without seeing it lay down ink.

Started with Sprints. Electrical problems, programming problems, inability to access all ink in bags, plugging lines, erratic cleaning and printing, locked into cleaning cycle. Supposedly things have gotten better with the take-over. If it is an old machine 2-3 years old there will most likely be no support unless you had bought it new. In short, from our experience, RUN, RUN very, very fast, Don't hesitate, Don't look back.
If you go to facebook and look for DTG groups, working printers often come up from people updating or getting out of the business. Example, a few days ago a person was quitting and had two P600, one in the box with other equipment for 3500.00
Look at places other than the big outlets.
We get our machines with transport and freight, ready to go for well under $3,000.00 with decent support and a years warranty on electrical units.
Don't know if it is permissible to provide the source so you will need to search private DIY businesses. There are some legit business out there. Just ask around before making a decision. Been where you are and had no help. Hope this helps some.

Thank you very much for this information. It has been very helpful. I did not purchase the sprint printer but I am still in the market looking for one. My budget is around $6000 as I can't afford the more expensive ones but since I am a smaller business I figure that is doable. Do you have any suggestions on certain types of printers that you have had experience with? I am located in the DFW area of Texas and would like to be able to get a printer that I can have a local rep come out for support and help. Thanks again!!!

We work with Epson based p600 DIY units. They seem to be quite dependable and easy to work with. They are not industrial standard but they can print 30 - 40 shirts a day, which is plenty for a small business.
I doubt if any DIY businesses have reps that go out. However, the good ones can give pretty good phone support. The Epson based R3000, which is obsolete and the forerunner of the P600, prints as well as the P600 and has some advantages. Stay away from the Spectra DIY because of possible problems with the encoder sensor wiring and the expense of the electrical board . There some DIYs that have eliminated this weakness. One of the advantages of starting out with these is there is world of posted knowledge on how to determine the cause of problems and videos on servicing. They are very simple to maintain. We are presently getting our machines from a dealer in AZ. Not mentioning names, just research or contact us personally.

Ok can you explain to me the difference in a DIY printer and one that is not ? I’m assuming a DIY is something you maintain and work on yourself? Thanks

DIY originally and still stands for Do it yourself. Non-Big name printers are a conversion of a paper printer. Years ago some very smart people found they could purchase parts and convert paper printers to textile printers. As time has gone by some have gotten very good and even simplify the process(American ingenuity. So a machine that I term a DIY is a machine that has been converted to a textile printer. They use the same working parts and ink of the brand machines, with the exception that some brand machines are designed to use only their ink, thus they have a strangle hold on their user. There are probably thousands of these conversions being used world wide. Some people have the ability to take an old printer and turn it into a DIY for under $300.00 and they work fine. Usually DIY work a little slower, but not many small businesses put out 100+ shirts a day. We have used brand name and conversions. For the money we will never abandon the conversion. Others will say conversions are junk and you need to spend several tens of thousands to get a real printer. We have shipped all over the world and the few problems were always operator error. Get on Facebook and look for DTG groups. They often talk of their machines. Most are independent businesses. Some use lower end brand printers and many use conversions. Contact some and feel out what they think about their choices.
