If I were to buy a DTG printer TODAY, it would be the Epson F2100. Epson seems to have done a good job of reducing the number of failures due to ink drying in the head. They do that by filtering the white (twice!) and providing a scheduled daily maintenance cycle that cleans the head. They also recommend that when you store the printer for extended periods--like you might be doing since you're in the school system--that you replace the ink cartridges with cleaning solution in order to preserve the head.
