My market is moms in their 30's. I looked and looked for a tee shirt this market would buy and wear and found:
JC Penney's St. John's Bay longsleeve crewneck
Sears Covington longsleeve crewneck
Both shirts are fantastic and my market loves them. But darn it, if Sears and JCP, don't change shirt colors every 4 mo. I'm going nuts!
I prefer the Sears shirt and chose a classic navy tee for my best selling design and my husband just let me know that it's a holiday color and they'll discontinue it at the end of Dec. Ahhhhhhhh!!!
1) do you know how I can get Sears Covington shirt line another way?
2) is there a company where I can take the Sears shirt and have it made? I tried American Apparel, but they said "only if you order 5,000.
Yes, I don't use blank shirts. I couldn't find one that fit well and was sized correctly.
The Sears and JCP shirts are $10 each.
It probably sounds nuts to someone who works w/ the blank industry. Believe me, I'd love to find a shirt within that industry, but I spent a fortune trying to find one and couldn't.
A Medium mom doesn't want to buy an XL for something to fit right. It would insult my market. Plus, for one reason or another, the fit was "off".
My shirts are selling well at $34/each. Do you have any suggestions?
In that case getting 5000 shirts made by AA would be roughly the equivalent of only a 1700 shirt order

If you're having sizing issues you could try using something like Gildan's women's shirts, which are based off men's sizing. They're not as nice and feminine as some brands, but they are somewhat (they're not just a male box cut) and they are very cheap (a couple of bucks a shirt).

Hmm. Maybe not the Gildan then.
Depending on how you define "well" I'd consider either taking some capital and investing in getting your own blanks made, or if you don't have the capital then getting a business loan and doing same.
It sounds like the only thing that isn't working out for you is the unreliability of supply, and the fact that you could increase your margins if you could source a better supplier. It might be worth taking that plunge.
Really great advice, everyone. I haven't gone the business loan route yet and would like to avoid it.
Does anyone know a feminine crewneck long sleeve or short? I sure would like to find something. I tried all the biggies: American Apparel, Hanes, pro-something.
I ended up w/ 6 to 8 shirts that just pulled in funny places and didn't fit well. On top of that, their sizing is majorly messed up which I don't understand at all.
Now, if I do shirts for Dads which I'll do soon -- Hanes Beefy is more than fine. It's the womens high end shirt that I'm having trouble finding.
