Default Newbie: just starting to screen print, looking for inexpensive shirts that FIT

Hi, i've been screen printing at home just for fun for a couple of years now, and want to get started selling shirts at craft fairs and online.

i've been buying american apparel shirts on ebay for $5-6 per shirt when printing for myself or for friends, but if i'm going to be buying a lot and trying to make a profit, this isn't very cost efficient.

i really like printing on american apparel shirts because they fit the way i like them to...an adult small is actually SMALL, snug around the waist/chest and a little long.

i looked into their wholesale prices and they only sell cases of 96. i don't know if i'm that serious yet that i can be buying 96 of each size and color that i would like to print, and i don't have a tax ID number yet either.

does anyone have any suggestions on where i can purchase american apparel inexepensively, but not in such large quantities?

alternatively, i'd be open to suggestions on other companies whose shirts fit similarly to AmAp and a link to where i can purchase their shirts.

Thanks, i look forward to hearing your answers!

-brian

www.alphashirt.com and TSC Apparel 2009 Collection both sell AA by the piece.
