Can anyone suggest a high end feeling top? Like Gap or Express?
Hello.
I am in the process of getting some shirt samples next week. I want to try and figure out which items to order. I know "good quality" is suggestive and everyone has their preferences, but being that there are so many here doing this, can someone suggest a high end feeling top. Kind of the shirts you get from Gap or express. Their tshirts are really nice, soft and do not look like the typical screen printed tshirt. By that I mean the ones you would get as a promotional item. I want the shirt to appear more dressy than a typical tee but at a reasonable price. I don't mind paying $4 per shirt or even a little more. I just want to stand out and offer nice quality items. I'll take less profit in order to have my items last for a long time and also appear more fashionable.
PLEASE put your 2 cents since I know there are SO many here that have tried MANY tshirts and have much more experience than I do.
Bella ... IMHO, there is nothing softer than a combed cotton t-shirt. But, I haven't looked into pricing for those, yet. For a more formal looking t-shirt that feels like a dress shirt (I mean, silky ... like butter) ... I REALLY like bamboo. Those will ride around the 4-5 dollar range, but I have yet to hear a better reaction to the feel of bamboo over any other t-shirt fabric. Bamboo is definately the way I want to go for really nice rhinestone designed t-shirts.

Thanks a bunch everyone!!
Hugs,

I think if you take a look at brands like Bella, Kavio, Continental Clothing, Article1, Alternative Apparel, Bare Apparel, you'll find some nice, higher end tops that fit your needs. Even American Apparel has some.
If you look through their catalogs and contact them to get samples, it will help you narrow down a good choice for your line.

I have read a little about Bamboo but never looked into it as I thought it would be much higher priced than $4-5.
Is there any particular brand or manufacturer that you or anyone can suggest. I'll keep searching the posts too.

Hello. Thanks for your suggestions.
I just purchased a sample of Bella and I thought it was VERY tight and more of a junior type style. I'll check if they make anything else that may work. The quality seemed ok too. Better than promotional shirts but still not soft or anything. American Apparel is softer BUT has seemed too thin for me AND I don't really like the fact that it shrinks. So I think I prefer pre-shrunk or something that will not alter the rhinestone or picture transfer.
I may end, not sure yet due to pricing and figuring things out, but I may end up letting customers decide which quality shirt if I don't find what I am looking for.

I don't have the link to the thread handy (sorry, multitasking like mad today), but it's related to the 2nd Annual T-Shirt Forum Design Contest, when Rodney shipped out the winning design on bamboo. There was a lengthy discussion about it, as I think the majority of us were surprised at how incredible the fabric felt.
When we were intially researching, I think we were gonna go with Continental Clothing, as they were adding more color variety of bamboo tees. We had to sign up at the site to get pricing. But, it's been almost a year, so I don't how they or the rest of the market have moved forward with bamboo, or current pricing. So, I can't honestly recommend anyone, at the moment (LOL, we still have a lot of blank stock of other t-shirts to move out before we can take the leap into bamboo), sorry.
I did feel that ... as far as presentation ... Kavio was the most impressive from last year's ISS show in Long Beach.
The bamboo tees Rodney used were from HTnaturals, so that might be one to look at, as well.

HI Michael.
I was doing a search and got some prices. Do you happen to have the name of any companies that I can find the shirts for the 4-5 dollar range?
thanks much!

LOL, actually took a re-look at one place, and like most of the garment industry in these recessionary times ... bamboo prices have gone up a buck or two or three, sorry. If I hear of any better pricing somewhere, I'll be happy to PM you (couldn't post it here, even if I did find a company).
