Wondering if any of the major vendors offer prices any cheaper then case pricing.
We receive case prices regardless of quantity from Sanmar, but hoping for cheaper prices! In the last 8 months we purchased about $35k on blanks from just Sanmar.
Is that even considered a lot to them? To me it is a lot, but I'm sure there are other companies who purchase 10 times more...
companies that consistently do large volume can get mill pricing. You have to ask. Most suppliers will want to keep you as a customer if you are doing that volume of purchasing.
Most vendors will give you 10 case pricing but you will probably have to ask & it also depends on the amount of sales you do with them. I was getting 10 case pricing with Sanmar (canada) for the last 2 years but
this year I lost it because I didn't order quite so much from them in the last year. Now I am back to regular
case pricing with them but I'm getting 10 case pricing from another supplier that has more selection.
If you're doing 35K with them I would think you would get the better pricing - just call and demand it.
Can you better explain "10 Case Pricing." Is that what it is called? I know a lot of vendors play hard to get, but I want to be confident enough and know what I'm talking about when I talk to the rep. Otherwise, I think they'll just say no.
I'd like to know more about 10 case pricing also. We do well over 35k with san mar but we rarely order more than a couple hundred of the same style. Most our orders are a few of this few of that. We get case pricing but I'm always looking for something better. Sometimes if your getting enough of the same style you can set your own sale with them too. Ask your rep.
Not sure if it's the same in the U.S. but with Sanmar Canada I think if you purchase over $5000 from them
you can get the better pricing. If you are just starting out I'm sure they will put you on regular pricing for the
first year to see what your sales will be. Even so, I still had to ask them for the better pricing, they won't automatically upgrade you.
I guess you will have to call them in the U.S. to see what their policy is on this.
I WISH i could do 35,000 in ordering EVER. We would love to get this to bigger volume in sales, but that takes time. I understand that. I have never had a problem with SanMar. They have a warehouse by us and UPS Ground gets to us next day. Atlantic Coast Cotton (Welcome to Atlantic Coast Cotton) called and offered is case pricing on everything, and then upped it to volume pricing for us without much effort. The thing is their volume pricing is very close to SanMars everyday pricing. Either way, we get what we need when we need it and the cost is decent.
Most wholesalers are selling t/shirts a few cents above their mill pricing, so often there's just no more room for discounts. Some vendors will offer case pricing in the hopes you will purchase other more profitable items w/ them.
We have doing business w/ one vendor that is very large, and had several locations. We purchase approx $300K per year of various type garments thru them. A few years ago we shifted our polo shirt buying thru another vendor, and kept the t/shirt & fleece purchasing thru the original vendor. Got a phone call a few months ago from the original vendor that they noticed that now 80% of our sales were just tees..I said, "yes, that's correct". The sales rep hinted that if that was going to be the case for the future, they would have to make some pricing changes. I told them "go ahead....if it's too high, there's other vendors we'll move the $250K of t/shirt sales to". Their issue was not so much we were purchasing $50K less, but it was mostly now all tees & fleece, which is their lowest profit margin items.
So far, their prices have not changed, so sometimes you just have to stand firm.
Some vendors have 4th column pricing which is better then case pricing. SanMar will quote a better then case price on large individual orders if you call them.
