Default Gildan 50/50 5.6oz vs. 9oz

I live in Toronto and the 50/50 t-shirts that Gildan offers in Canada are 9oz. They are 5.6oz in the States. Is there a noticeable different between these 2 weights, or can you not tell at all?

I am looking to use this style for a vintage line and am impressed with the 5.6oz, but have not seen the 9oz.

Thanks for your help.

D.

I don't think I would ever use gildan t-shirts for a vintage t-shirt line. Too scratchy and on the lower end of t-shirts (for a fashion line).

The "ounce" weight in Canada and the US are numbered differently. The 9oz t-shirt in canada might be the same as the 5.6 oz t-shirt in the US.

For a vintage line, I would consider American Apparel, Continental Clothing, Article1, Alternative Apparel, epacificsports.com, styles like that.

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback. I have a t-shirt by Alternative Apparel and the label says "Alternative Vintage Soft". Is this the same t-shirt as the Basic Crew they sell on their website?

It's possible. Most of their t-shirts say that in the label.

The basic crew on their website is their most popular shirt though. I used it 2 years ago for the t-shirtforums t-shirts

What do you think of it? Comfort and shrinkability. I'm thinking of using Alternatives Basic Crew myself and any recommendations for it would be great!

For the women, I use the aa4020. I've tried them all... trying to pin down my own favorite shirt. I haven't found any others that are even close. It's very soft and has a perfect fit. I assume the aa05 basic crew is the men's equivalent. I highly recommend these shirts.
