Re: Do i need a "License" to Buy Blanks In order to protect their sales channels, most manufacturers will not sell to anyone that staggers along. They want you to be in the business of business and the way the gauge this is by the buyer having a resale or sellers permit..name will vary from state to state.. or sometimes they will also want to know membership in a professional organization.. Such as SIGA, PPAI, SAGE, UPIC or ASI...these are mostly in the promotional product arena.
It is easy to get a sellers permit...if your state has sales tax, apply to the sales tax collection department...fill out a form and that is usually it. In addition, you MAY need a business lic from the local jurisdiction..you get that from the city or county office. If you are doing business from a home, you may also need a variance or permit to show you are not have commercial customers parading through a residential area. And then if you are doing screen printing some places will want to know how you are going to dispose of any waste..etc..
