Default Do i need a "License" to Buy Blanks

i called to get an estimate on some blanks but the person i spoke with stated I needed some kind of license to buy from them. When ordering from gilden and others is this same license needed? If so how do i get one?

They are probably referring to
"Business" or "Re-Sellers Permit"
Checking to see if you're permitted to sell retail or Wholesale.
If you own your business,
You should've already have one by applying
your business to the city.

In order to protect their sales channels, most manufacturers will not sell to anyone that staggers along. They want you to be in the business of business and the way the gauge this is by the buyer having a resale or sellers permit..name will vary from state to state.. or sometimes they will also want to know membership in a professional organization.. Such as SIGA, PPAI, SAGE, UPIC or ASI...these are mostly in the promotional product arena.

It is easy to get a sellers permit...if your state has sales tax, apply to the sales tax collection department...fill out a form and that is usually it. In addition, you MAY need a business lic from the local jurisdiction..you get that from the city or county office. If you are doing business from a home, you may also need a variance or permit to show you are not have commercial customers parading through a residential area. And then if you are doing screen printing some places will want to know how you are going to dispose of any waste..etc..

Just some food for thought

Most places will require you to have a resellers permit, though there are places like jiffyshirts.com that will allow you to buy without one. So if you dont have one you can always buy from jiffyshirts but it is worth it to get the resellers permit so in the future you are not limited to who you can buy from.

jiffy works fine if you dont have the permit, that is where i started but it pays to get the permit! you'll save at least a dollar or two per shirt
