I agree with the customer thinking they'll get them for cost. That's ridiculous. But it's one of the pitfalls of doing business in today's world. Everything can be found and priced on the internet it seems.
HOWEVER....I do not have a sales tax number as of yet. I'm really just getting everything in line and want to make sure I know what I'm doing entirely before I go registering my business, getting all the licenses, etc. I've been down that road before, got in over my head and played hell with accounting for the state and feds for the rest of that year.

I'm a very small business with a tax id/license, and I deal with a combination of suppliers. Some require tax id and others don't. You'll most always get the best price when you have your tax id number when dealing with suppliers, but even then some of the other sites like shirtsupplier.com will give you a better price and bigger selection of color/size than what you can find at Walmart/etc. The sites that require tax id numbers are not going to provide you with their price list until you have the proper license. One of my suppliers, TSCapparel.com provides the capability for anyone to look at their products, but only their customers with authorization (id/password) can find out the price. I often direct some of my customers to look at their site and tell me which items they interest in purchasing and then I tell them the price I'll charge them.

I do have tax numbers(both state resale and federal employer id #) , I am interested in finding different suppliers that offer a variety of products without requiring you to order large quanitys of any one partiicular style.

I have to say that there is definitely a benefit to being within a short driving range to Downtown Los Angeles. So many wholesale warehouses there to purchase tees and hoodies and no shipping.
I have a place there that I get my hoodies from (2 places actually) that can be bought as singles or in multi-size cases. Ranging in price from $8.00 to $10.00 if purchased as singles. They are closed today but I will get the number and/or email for them to see if you can order online or by phone. I don't know if they have a site but I would guess they have a catalog. The hoodies are really nice, come in an assortment of colors and in zip-up and pullovers. Very hip styles too, not just the standard average everyday Target/Kmart styles. When I get the number I will PM it to you.

BlankShirts.com is the best if you don't have a sales tax ID number ... if you get the ID try Broder Bros.
No minimums on either and they are close in pricing, but Broder just opened a warehouse about 2 hours drive from me so I get next day shipments on anything I order out of that warehouse.

BestBlanks.com if you don't have a tax ID number, or Broder Bros. if you do have a tax ID number ... Broder is fast and carries tons of styles and allows "one-sies" and "two-sies" ordering too.
Definitely check them out ... they have a warehouse in Duluth, GA too, which should guarantee you 2 day shipping too at the worst.
