Default which premium heavyweight t-shirt?

Can anyone recommend the best quality heavyweight cotton Ts for printing? We're selling into a similar market as skate / surf brands so they need to be high quality long life shirts with shoulder to shoulder taping etc.
thanks

do you mean in terms of fit & finish or the ethical angle or both? I'm not familiar with american apparel first hand so what is their selling point?

the shirts are softer/lighter/sweatshop free made in USA shirts fit differently than a standard tee. They have tighter arms and shoulders/chest. A lot of brands have reduced their sizing to be 1/2 to whole size smaller in fit these days.

tech terms they are a 30 singles combed cotton tee. buy one from your distributor and then buy a regular fruit of the loom tee and you will notice the difference.

Now if you walk through pac sun and look through the racks you will see both kinds of tees in there. volcom, billabong, hurley have both shirts to meet different price points. AMA is more expensive. you do get better print results if you are printing detailed art.

I would suggest buying a sample of the Alstyle 1701. It's a nice weight ringspun t-shirt that a lot of skate/surf brands actually use (and relabel).

thanks for the pointers, any other options I should look at?

I have ringspun Ts from Etnies, Special Blend and Burton Snowboards that are still looking good after years of wear so this is the kind of quality I'm after.

Try www.ePACIFICsports.com. These products even have a tear-away tag.
