I am lookign for a manufacture that is good for the surfwear apparel company I have heard bzzwords like Gildan, AA, Aticle 1 etc. What is the best bang for the buck so to speak. We are looking for a good startup shirt mens in black
Nick, I noticed you mention Gildan as you have here before, may be there is a difference between the Canadian ones and the ones you get.... I've been curious about that. Have you seen the Canadian gildans ? ....if not I can mail you a couple, just for me to know if its the same as you get there.
I/m not going against your preference...just curious if they are the same.
I think the best bang for the buck is the Fruit of the Loom 50/50 Best tee. If you don't want thin (it is), then you'd want to go with something like Hanes Beefy I guess. I think the 50/50 Best makes a good startup shirt though (it's what Threadless use, for now).

Are the "Canadian" Gildans made somewhere other than Mexico or Honduras? I'd say you're probably talking about the same shirt, it's just that people's preferences vary.
(personally I agree with Nick - I am probably less reluctant to consider the Gildan shirt of acceptable quality, but I agree it only meets the minimum requirements - I'm not unhappy using it, but at the same time I'd always be happier with something else)
What is good about Gildan and Port and company is that they are oversized. Now I say good but it might not be if you want a little more fitted look. As far as quality I use both. I had problems with them in the youth market as I was doing a pre-school and they were just too big for the kids so I switched to jerzees and the fit great for them.

Where you use "over-sized" I'd say shapeless and boxy.

Actually, I take that back. That's comparing a gildan ($1) white to an uknown color article 1 ($6 or so per piece) . Color gildan ($2) to color article 1 may be a more fair comparison (3x the cost). I know they lowered their piece prices recently but I don't have my lists here with me so I can't give you a definitive answer.
They *are* nice shirts. MUCH MUCH MUCH nicer than gildans. Is it worth the difference? Only you & your customers can decide that. Order some samples and try them out.
