Default Have a chance at a cool clothing line, which blanks to use

I've been trying to convince an artist that I like to let me put their art on shirts and I would print and sell them and send them a percentage every month.

They have finally agreed and I'm trying to decide which blanks I should use. I really think this could do very well, so I want to pick something better than the normal Gildan or Hanes. I also see these selling in the higher price range.

What brand of shirts would you recommend? Is American Apparel considered the best?

I have a Brother GT-541 so I will be printing on white shirts, but would like to go with ringers to add higher value.

I'm open to any other insight or information you might have.

Thanks,

Dennis Graves

There are a handful of premium blank suppliers. In addition to AA, my personal recommendations would be JS Apparel, Bare Apparel and Royal Apparel. It's probably best to get samples and compare for yourself first hand.

I would recommend American Apparel or JS apparel. JS is similar quality for considerably less.

Depends on the fit you want. If you want a Hanes/Gildan type "fit", then I would suggest the Alstyle 1701 which is a much softer t-shirt with a more generous fit.

If you want a more fashion fitted t-shirt, then I'd suggest one of these fashion blank t-shirts like have already been recommended. More options can be found in these posts: fashion blanks related topics at T-Shirt Forums

I don't think there is one "best".

Some people love American Apparel, some people hate it and prefer a Gildan.

It depends on the market/niche/person.

American Apparel is often used because they have grown to the point where people know them as a brand that fits a certain way, feels a certain way, and is softer and a bit more upscale than a Gildan/Fruit of the Loom type t-shirt.

There are several similar companies that produce blank t-shirts in the same genre as American Apparel (see the fashion blanks link)

I agree with Tim that it's probably a good idea to buy a few blank t-shirt samples to figure out which one *you* feel is the best.
