I cam across a site that took a photo that was emailed to them and created a silhouette of the person/object and then cut it with vinyl. I know this can't be to complicated, just wanted to know which program I could use to create this myself. Any help would be appreciated!
i use live trace in illustrator, also sometimes i convert the photo in photoshop to a pencil drawing then use trace function, then save it to an .eps file and export it to your cutting program. dunno if this is correct but works well for me.
this is how i do it. maybe there is easier ways to do it. I open the photo in photoshop and cut out the object or person or whatever. then i go to the layers window and right click on the image i just cut out, right click>blending option>Color overlay. then choose black.
then i take it to corel draw and vectorize it. thats it.

I do the same thing, sometimes, however, I will just adjust the levels in Pshop, rather than converting to a pencil drawing. Also, it helps sometimes to erase as much of the background as possible to get a better LiveTrace in Illy.
