I just bought a Laserprint 24" and was wanting to do Decals and Shirts and stuff. My son and I wanted to start a little home business to help out with paying a bill or two.
Can anyone help us out with explaining how the Transfer Tape is used? Is it put on the non sticky side of the vinyl then placed on the car?
We have been ripped off once already, we paid $550.00 for a brand new heat press that burned up after 5 shirts and can't even get parts sent to me? And I tried contacting the company but to no avail. Now I can't reach them on their website.
My son is 16, and has worked very, very hard for his money for the last 2 summers, and in the cornfields, at 90 - 100 degrees,
I am on disability at such a young age that my work history ain't squat. And his Mom (my wife) ran off with a @$#*$@ guy from the internet, and moved to the Netherlands. NICE MOTHA?
So if someone could take a few minutes to teach us what we need to know about the TRANSFER TAPE or where we may find some information on the subject we would be greatful.

Once you have weeded the excess vinyl from the decal you place the sticky side of the transfer tape down to the decal. Now it is ready for application. When you remove the transfer tape it will contain your decal minus the backing and be ready for applying to your substrate. When I first got into decals and sign making I watched a ton of videos on youtube. They will show you all the different tricks and even multi color vinyl techniques. Good luck

Here's a decent video on how transfer tape works:

It's actually the entire decal process, so just fast forward to the middle or so for the tape part. He's using clear tape but you can use the standard white transfer paper with the same results.

It's basically used to hold all of the little pieces of the decal together so that when the backing paper comes off, the entire decal can be stuck to a surface all at one time. If you have a decal that's all one piece, and can be peeled from the backing paper as one piece (like a rectangle sticker, for example), you don't need the transfer tape.
