help needed for newbie trying to figure out vinyl cutting
Hi..this is my first post and I am just so frustrated at this point, I did not read any other postings which may already have the answer...
So I figured out how to cut the roll of white vinyl and press the design on tees with no problem.
When I tried to do the same for the roll of black vinyl, I found the backing was a little different (more cardboard feeling) and not the clear sticky material as on the white roll.
So my question is:
Which side do I cut the roll of black vinyl: the vinyl side or the backside? The sticky side of the vinyl is on the cardboardish backing, and I don't know how to "weed" the excess; which part is the excess?
And after cutting, should the shiny vinyl side be face down on the tee? I thought the sticky side was supposed to touch the tshirt, but I can't figure out how to get the sticky side of the vinyl exposed to the tee.
Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What brand of vinyl are both of these rolls? Heat transfer vinyl should not really be sticky - make sure you didn't get black sign vinyl instead of black heat transfer vinyl.

ok. i have just figured out, it was black sign vinyl. i have used about 6 inches of it in "testing"; total roll was 15 feet.
What can i use this vinyl for? Not to heat press on tees, i realize. The black sign vinyl roll came with the startup kit from specialty graphics, do you think they will take it and exchange it for the Easyweed heat transfer vinyl?

You can use sign vinyl for decals, signs, vehicle lettering, etc. etc.

Doubtful since heat pressing vinyl is much more expensive than sign vinyl.
However you could always use your sign vinyl on cars etc.
