Default Using the SX-15 to cutting printed material

I would like to make my SX-15 cut some printed material. I know I have to manually line up registration marks, but I need more details. Do I print them with my printed designs, where do I put them, how do I line up the machine to cut where I need it to and things like that. This is my first post. I have appreciated all the good info found on this site. Thanks for not being stingy with your knowledge!

This has been sitting a week unanswered so I'm gonna take a shot at it.

What I think you need to find out, Brusher, is whether your printing software can make reg marks and, if so, what their offset is. I use Flexi for my decal work and it prints/cuts its own reg marks (as, I believe, most packages do). This way you get consistent results since the location of the marks is identical from one layer to the next. I'm not sure if reg marks from, say, Photoshop would line up with a contour cut done with, say, Flexi. It's something of an experiment that I, for one, would be curious to see the output of (my US Cutter has a laser for contour-cut registration).

Alternately, you can reverse the process: Cut your design with your SX-15. Then do a print run on a regular sheet of paper for registration purposes. Use drafting tape to secure the cut piece to the printed regular sheet before feeding it to your printer. Run it through and you should be within <1/8" of your goal (depending on the quality of your printer).

I used to use this technique years ago to feed cue cards through my old laser printer.
