Default Need Help With Buying Machine

Hello everybody,

I need some help starting my business and was hoping somebody can help me. I currently own two t--shirt shops and going well. I want to expand and start producing my own decals. I am having trouble figuring out what that machine is called. I want to make my own decals and wholesale them. Please if someone can help me with some info about that machine please leave a comment.

Thank You,

King Graphic's

The machine is called a vinyl cutter which cuts opaque pieces of vinyl.

After the vinyl cutter cuts out the decal design, you have to "weed out" the excess parts of the cut to leave just the design you want to apply, then you add application to the back to make it easier to apply to the final surface.

We have many vendors here that sell those machines and offer special discounts for t-shirtforums members here: T-Shirt Forums Special Offers from T-Shirt Forums Preferred Vendors

If you prefer phone calls, if you call one of them, they will be able to help you get started and let you know what supplies you need.

If you don't mind reading, there are a lot of good posts here about how to create vinyl decals: decals related topics at T-Shirt Forums

Now a vinyl cutter prints the design to the paper? or does it just cut out the paper size?

A vinyl cutter cuts the vinyl.

The vinyl is usually a solid color (like black or white) and the vinyl cutter cuts out your design into the shape you want.

Here's a youtube video that shows it:

There *are* vinyl cutters that *do* print AND cut, but those are usually the more high end machines that cost $13,000+ (Roland Versacamm is the name of that machine)

For the normal 1-2 color decals you see on cars and such, they are usually done with a more reasonably priced vinyl cutter that can be had for anywhere from $300 to $1800 (depending on brand, features, support, etc)

No do you know the decals that you get done on t-shirts on the boardwalk? There decals that come on paper that are all types of colors. Its not a flat layer usually you can feel the decal.

Those are most likely vinyl decals. You can feel vinyl.

Now you're talking about something else (heat transfers) versus what you were originally talking about (vinyl decals)

You asked about decals and what equipment was needed and that's what I pointed you to

For heat transfers for t-shirts, you may want to look into a heat transfer supplier like Iron-On Transfers, Heat Press Machines, T-Shirt Printing Supplies - Pro World

I think you just ended up in the wrong part of the forum. You can customize really well with a vinyl cutter. So, don't rule it out as a good addition, but from what I've seen on boardwalks I think you are wanting plastisol transfers or maybe even inkjet transfers for your own custom designs.
