Hi
I'm not sure how cold your talking about, But I applied some vinyl to my store glass door ( on the outside ) and it was about 35 degrees AND it was raining LOL! I did wipe off the rain before application and my door swings inward so it was dry when i applied it. However, it did get wet as soon as I shut the door. This was before Christmas and the " Welcome" and the "Santa" image are still there!
If the sun hits the door at some point during the day, the glass will warm up, even thought the temperature is low. If not then if it's really cold then it could be a hit and miss thing. Some vinyls do better in cold weather than others. I have had good luck with Avery A6 and FDC in cold weather. The biggest problem is it simply will not stick because the adhesive is to cold so if you can keep the vinyl in a warm location until you are ready to apply it it helps.
i installed vinyl in 9 degree whether, only part that sucked was my hands froze but it stuck on fine
Now if it is wet and cold well I hope god is looking on your shoulder because may not work

If you put a Santa on it I'm guessing that you are going to be removing sometime in Janruary-what type of vinyl did you use???
Thanks,
Kimsie
Yeah, it can be a nightmare applying vinyl on a cold surface.
Let the sun heat it up a bit and try.
Whatever you do, DO NOT try to heat the glass up yourself with a heat gun or anything else.
Why do you say to not try to heat up the glass? I may get a job to install some large vinyl panels on front glass, and I was thinking about using an easy-up tent and propane heater to warm the glass.
Really? Have you done a lot of installations in the cold? What vinyl do you use? I always have adhesion troubles in the cold.
Yes, I have done plenty of cold work. I'm in South Jersey, I'm sure you get colder. I mainly use A6. We have propane tank top heaters which we use to keep things warm (hands and vinyl). I have had to run the truck just to keep the vinyl warm before. If the sun is out keep the vinyl on the dash.
I was outside working on Sat, high around 34, wind about 25mph. My fingers are still sore (arthritis I'm sure) I'm getting older and tired of those jobs. We were talking, if it does not fit into the shop we may pass on those jobs in the winter. Hard to wear gloves while doing vinyl, at least for me.
