Vinyl slipping in cutter, need help need to do a job tonight
Hi, I hope somebody can help me. I have a graphtec ce-5000-60 cutter and until now have not done anything over like 18 inches long. I just did a graph that was 36 inches long by 13.75 inches wide. I am using 15 inch Oracal 631 vinyl. I started the job and then came back and it had slipped sideways in the cutter off of one of the grit rollers. I need to cut this tonight and need help. Maybe it is moving to fast or something for such a long piece? If so is there a way to slow it down or something? I don't have much of the 631 left so concerned about it messing up again as I need to get this out the door tomorrow.

Couple things to look for, one is to make sure your pinch rollers are clean, you can also test by rolling your vinyl out the full 36 inches to make sure your vinyl is aligned correctly,, I am not sure on the Graphtec if you can adjust the tension on the rollers with more pressure or not but I would check that also.

Use a alcohol swab that way it will dry quickly . . . just enough to wipe off the dust, which in most cases the only dirt you should get on the rollers.

If the vinyl has sit around, it will sometimes stick to itself. It will also happen if it was not put onto the roll perfectly. This will cause the slipping you talked about. Pulling it off the roll and rewinding it back up prior to cutting will always help.
