I just finished a craft fair and it was a bust. I know I can't be the only home based vinyl cutter who has tried a craft fair. It seems like the customers were not "getting it" yes it goes on the wall or any smooth surface, etc.
Any suggestions for attracting customers?
Should I start doing those #@%^& stick people?
What sells and where?
I love the while you wait idea too bad this show was no good. Any suggestions would be greatly apperciated
Cindy, I am sorry to hear your craft fair, was a Bust.
I am sure it was not your work, the economy SUCKS!!!
Hang in there, some poeple are doing parites with the wall sayings,
It all depends on where you're going and what you're doing!
We had a disappointing Christmas bazaar a little while back. Not a whole lot of people visited it, and we also didn't sell much there, instead more or less just promoted our business. My mother and I noticed that what seemed to sell the most at the bazaar was some "Merry Christmas" decals that were cut from Oracal 651 by another vendor there (I read the backing paper!). The kicker was we weren't even the ones selling it even though it was well within our capabilities, we were primarily there to promote our gift shop and show some of the things we make.

You can have a banner with examples and also a portfolio on you tables for folks to see exactly what you do.
Yeah...I get its slow, we didnt do the Houston Autorama simply because of the economy. We might even drop our next event in Padre Island until at least this auto bailout business is out of the news.
The mortgage thing is going to be around for much longer I think.
I have a gx 24 and I think Sandy Jo is right, I have to go in a home party direction because the consumer at the craft fair level has never been exposed to the concept of vinyl on the wall. I swear to you the customers looked at the personalized cookies for santa plate and said "but , my last name isn't Hansen"
Can any of you that do the car shows recommend designs I don't have any car related "back window of my pick-up truck" kind of things. I live in a pretty rural part of western washington (I can see victoria BC canada from my house) and think that may sell well.
Thanks for the input, you guys are great.

Oh yeah....you have political blunder all around you. If you watch the news you can have five taglines an evening.
I don't see anything in the pics that says anything about you doing personalized wall quotes or anything about any personalizing.
You need to make a banner or something to grab people's attention. Remember at a craft show, or any show for that matter, you've got to grab someone's attention to bring them to your booth.
Cindy,
YOu have very nice stuff.. do not be discouraged,,
I checked out your site,, the Quality is there, now where are your prices,,?
If you are in the right ball park , for all of the above, you go hit those, parties, and also, go to the paint stores, in your area, and sell them the wall art,,and let them know you will custom do what the client wants,, make sure you are prices at wholesale, add some signage to there walls,, poeple will ask,, for sure.

I totally agree!!! Those folks dont know what custom vinyl lettering or a plotter is unless you educate them.
Funny but a couple I know have been doing the sayings or quotes on plaques er chunks of wood thingy for the last few months.
They did 4 events in a row before during and after thanksgiving. Custom cutting small letter sayings on the spot for application to the wood shields or what have you.
I dont think they have been doing great business epecially when traveling and hotels.
