The formula I use for charging for banner signs seems a little high. I would like some experienced feed back. I charge the square footage of the banner multiplied by 5, plus $5 for each additional color, plus cost of the banner. For instance, for a 4' X 6' , 13 oz, black banner, white Oracle 5 year vinyl, I would charge $143.95. Does that sound a little high?
For that same banner in white with one color of vinyl, we charge $60. We may be really low, though. We buy full rolls of banner so we get a really good deal on it. Don't get asked too much about colored banners.
Edited the price because I thought it read 3 by 6 instead of 4 by 6.

You are only charging $2.50 a foot?
That seems really low
Banners aren't really what we're into. Just sort of a side note. Most of the banner work that we get doesn't have more than about 6 words tops on it so we don't have much of an investment in supplies. A lot of times they come to us because they heard they could get a decent deal on a banner and then after meeting with us come back for t-shirts and the like. It's just what we do.
People sell full color banners here around $6 to 8 a sq ft not sure about one color vinyl stuff
I do like $2.50 if was wholesale only and retail like $4.00
Its not primary business and some people have tried bashing me for price but I rather sell 20 for a little less than 1 every once in awhile.
If you sell for a little less than that same client find it economical to get banners for events on a regular bases
Only thing I hate about doing banners is hemming it with tape and later will invest in a automated machine
I use the prefab banners and order as needed. That probably affects my price a lot. I make sure when I'm pricing that I ask the customer if they want an inexpensive banner for 1 time use, or a better banner that will last. I explain the differences in quality and pricing. I think a lot of them don't realize what they've been paying such a cheap price for. Such as a 2X6 white banner, 1 color vinyl, for $35. I can't compete with that.
about $3-$4 sqf wholesale, or $7-$10 retail. plus design time. min. for any banner is $45. im not going to do a 1 x 2 for $20. waste of time. once you get more busy you'll understand
We live in a economically depressed area of the midwest and ppl here will not pay $145 for a banner unless it is something spectacular. We live in the land of plain, simple and cheap. Happy for you guys. Just being realistic here.

trust me i completeley understand that aswell, i just couldnt stay afloat with those prices. someone here said it best, "im not going to work myself to death to go out of business"
Yikes 4 hours and only $145 .. design time should cost 50 dollar an hour because I don't get deals when I get car fixed and god forbid when I have to take to dealer and they charge me 100 bucks an hour
You should also charge Min of $45 an hour soo you either under cut yourself or way better off sub banners out and make better profit margin with less work.
I charge $192 for a 4 x 6 banner that was a 14oz. Cut vinyl banner. I had someone order a 4 x 12 banner 2 color vinyl front and back with wind flaps, I charged about $430 or somewhere around there.
