Default Should 2nd layer vinyl be applied wet?

Question...when applying a second color vinyl on top of one already installed, should it be applied wet?

In my short time dealing with vinyl signs, I have found that appling wet works great for large items (letters & graphics), but is a real pain with smaller detailed items. Just curious if there is a rule of the thumb when it comes to applying wet or dry.

Well, I was laying a shadow of a different color next to font I already had placed. The problem was that it was not exactly lined up on each letter (some gaps). So I figured if I designed the text to already have the shadow in the design, cut it as one piece and apply it first, then create another piece of only the text (no shadow) of a different color and apply on top of the gray. This is where the question comes in, wet or dry.

The saying goes that Pros do dry and newbies do wet : )
I ain't a pro but personally I like doing dry more now because wet can be messy sometimes in my opinion.
If layering, move around dry by slightly touching bottom layer with no pressure, than when you got lined up, stick that baby down.
Detail stuff can be down wet with good results "but" and that a big but .... make sure you get "ALL' moisture squeezed out and even you a little heat because its is gonna peel off later from slightest moisture between substrate and vinyl... I learned it hard way Ha

So answer is yes can be done with ease but make sure you get moisture out
