Trying to figure out what to charge this guy for following.
Really nice guy who just opened up a pizza joint and said if I do a good job he will mention to all where he go job done Yay...
So he is ordered this nice 28x44 sign stand thing which cost 200 for that but trying to figure out what to charge for printing and mount vinyl on gator board 2 sided 28x44" ??
I figured I should charge about $150 including material and 30 minutes design time
I will prob. have 45 bucks in material and ink and giving the stand at cost because I wanna do alot of biz with him
Sounds like a nice thing charging him your cost for the stand but I would not do that too often only because I have been promised lots of business by people if I could give them a reasonable cost and I never got any business back after that, Kinda lost money that way.
Yes true but where I am, people give there word so far anyways Lol
He is down the road from em and seem like really nice guy and personally I thought stand was expensive enough and I ain't in biz of selling stand Lol, well not yet anyways
If you do decide to give the stand to him, let him know that! On the invoice specifically show that you are giving him the discount for the item. This will give you the recognition that you are helping him out, but also letting him know what the cost would normally be.
I see a lot of people who end up being low balled at every return order from someone who they gave a good deal to the first time around. This is something you clearly want to avoid.
What is Mark up for a banner stand?
I should know this because I was in retail biz for 7 years but I kinda find it harder to price something like this because I not in away selling the stand but what goes in it.
In retail mark up were between 35 to 70 percent depending on item so would 35% sound right for a 190 item and I am gonna have him pay shipping cost for it to ofcourse
The ''mark-up'' for the stand should be at least 50%. If you paid $200 for it, charge him $300.
I'm assuming that to get the stand, you will have to call or e-mail someone to order it. There will be shipping or you will have to go get it, right? Why should you work and not get paid?
The biggest thing I learned when I started my own business was something an old retired sign guy told me. ''If you are scared or embarrased to charge a fair price for your time and skills, you need to work for someone else, not yourself.'' Don't be afraid to charge what is fair. You are not ripping him off. You are in business.
As far as pricing the 2-sided sign, we would need a lot more info. such as, amount of text, number of colors, graphics, etc.
I am printing on vinyl with no laminate on it because it is thick stuff and pretty cheap
using some white core gator board and thanks for heads up Elijah and I ain't new to business but signs are sorta new to me still as I have been doing for less than a year
He might be the best Joe in town, but I wouldn,t count too much on him mentioning your name for a job well done, as much as much as you would for him for being given a discount on a pizza.
However having said that, what I would offer would be as follows.
1. Your normal price upped by 5%.
2. 10% discount because of him starting out.
3.extra 5% discount for printing ( design and made by)
BTW this is just my opinion!
