Default Newbie Making First Banner

Ok, I am a newbie and getting ready to make my first banner, and I searched but didn't really find a "how to" thread. I understand that almost any sign vinyl will work, do you have to do anything besides "peel and stick" once you cut the vinyl? Do you have to use heat to apply? I am thinking I just cut out the design in the sign vinyl and peel and stick it on the banner vinyl, but wanted to be sure I wasn't missing an important step.

Thank you!!

You don't have to apply heat, but you can. Use a heat gun, if applying in cold weather.
Are you using transfer paper?? What kind of banner material are you using? Remember, don't cut in reverse like T-shirts.

I haven't purchased anything yet, so I'm not sure what the transfer paper will be. Are some better than others for sign application (we'll also be doing stickers as well). I'm thinking Orocal 651 and just a regular vinyl banner.

Check out signwarehouse.com. I buy most of my sign supplies from there.
As for certain types of transfer paper, I believe it's just personal preference. There are different brands, I use Conform. They can come in clear (better for stickers) and a masked color. They also come in different sizes, from 2-3" to 30" on up.

This site will give you information on the vinyl you buy (basic application instructions, longevity, etc).

I hope sending you this link is not against policy. But I think it'll help.

Also try fellars.com, they have a warehouse in San Jose. I recently ordered some vinyl from them and had it the next day.

Ok.. I will help where i can..as I make so many banners i could do it in my sleep..
You will need the banner..... I get them mainly from signmart.. they are here is calif.. and have great customer service.
Long rulers. (like yard stick size) stabilo pencil (either white or blue, whichever will show up better on the banner.. ) A Stabilo pencil is a pencil you can get from sign suppliers.. It allows you to mark the lines on the banner that you will place the vinyl on.. and when your done it wipes off with water.
Get a squirt bottle.. fill it with rubbing alcahol and water mix.. (use this to clean the banner before you apply any vinyl). Sign vinyl in the colors you want.. a good squeegie... ( i prefer the 3M gold ones) exacto knife, scissors, paper towel.. lol.. and go to town..
