Default Oracal 8500 Perforated for Window advertising

I just recently started doing vinyl graphics and I have a potentional client who wants some vinyl lettering made that he can see thru from the inside but not outside. After reading about it I understand I need a perforated vinyl. On Signwarehouse.com I see that they offer Oracal 8500 Perforated in 15" and 30" rolls. Would this be a suitable vinyl for use on business store front windows? If not what do you guys recommend.

Perforated vinyl is usually used for vehicle wraps, the part of it that goes on the window of a vehicle (like a bus or van). It's usually digitally printed on a wide-format printer, not cut with a plotter. I'm not all that familiar with Oracal's current product line, but I'd be a little surprised if they have a perf vinyl really designed to be plotted ... seems to me the knife would get caught in the "holes".

Usually window signs on businesses that I'm familiar with which are "see-through" from the inside are some kind of mirrored mylar ... there are a couple of dry-cleaning places here that I have seen this on. The lettering could be gold or silver, or perhaps a tint of blue or red ... it's a bit like window tinting material. I'm sorry I can't point you toward a source, but that may help point you in the right direction, at least.

Per the Oracal 8500 Tech Specs, this is not Perforated vinyl.

With searching their site, I found that the Orajet 3675 & 3676 are perforated. With these though, you must use them with solvent-based or UV-curable inkjet printing.

Are you using a cutter only, or printer-cutter in one (like a Roland VersaCAMM)?

If you're still uncertain of your needs, contact Oracal. Nice people to talk to!
