I was wondering if there were windshield templates available anywhere so when making a windshield banner or back window graphic, you had the measurments and curvatures handy so you can cut to fit?
I just tried making one for my truck's windshield and it looked horrible because I cut it in a straight line and the top of the windshield has a curve to it. Not good at all!
Any help would be appreciated, I thought these were available somewhere, but can't find it at all using google and yahoo.
Hi,
the easy solution is to measure down from the top of your windshield to the level where you'd like to have your decal, then when you design it on your computer, just give it that bit of gradual arching. (I hope thats clear)
Then, when you apply it, start at the center of the design (windshield) and work outward.
I appreciate that idea, and will likely give it a try on my vehicle soon. I was hoping to be able to make these custom for other folks as well and don't think I'm always going to get the opportunity to measure each and every car before creating the graphic or banner......
But thanks again Denise, that will at least get me through MY truck.
You're welcome !
Actually, for online customers, you could just take some measurements of similarly sized/style vehicles, and do a general measurement. Then, when you list them, list them as for "compact car" SUV, etc...... They're pretty general size wise, well, per vehicle type. If someone has a really different styled windshield, they could give you their measurements.
So now I have to go dealer to dealer and measure cars on the lot? Ha-ha! J/K. I know what you're saying and may just have to make a concerted effort to do just that. Thanks again!
