Some of the older vinyl cutters had a star roller that you loaded the vinyl on and that carried it through the machane as a lot of the newer machines has pinch rollers to carry the vinyl. Signwarehouse sells non pref 15" as do a few other places.

So if I order the 24" can I just tear off the perf? Now I understand also, it is like the dot matrix printers with the paper that was joined together and fed through via the perfs.

Thats correct. You can still use the perf with a pinch roller but have to remember you get an inch less vinyl, a 15" roll of pref has 14" of usable vinyl.

were it actuallly seems you are getting less vinyl.. You dont in fact get less usable vinyl and the area where the perfs are is under your rollers anyway.. and you woudnlt be able to cut that really even if it wasnt perfed.
