Default applying vinyl

Hi everybody. I was wondering if there is a trick to applying vinyl without getting air bubbles. And when you get them, how do you remove them? I applied 651 to glass and got small air bubbles.

Thanks, Brian

I dont like applying wet to windows. It gives me alot of trouble.

I like to make sure I use alot of even pressure. I always know when Im not doing this ....too many bubbles.

Like today But I just use a regular pin, pick the bubble close to the edge of it(make a very small hole), and squeegee the air out. Gently tho, you dont want to create a wrinkle or stretched vinyl in the middle of your graphic.

Some bubbles I dont like to mess with, and I instruct the client to keep the graphic in the sun for a couple days. The bubbles will gas out....and if they dont, I tell them to call me and I'll change the lettering. The bubbles always go away, and I havent been called back. (even after checking with the customer to make sure the bubbles are gone)

I used the rapid tac then wiped dry with paper towel. Then applied graphic.

I was told that you apply rapid tac then wipe dry and it leaves a film to position vinyl.

I always do anything over a foot in length or width on wet using straight water. That eliminates any bubbles by doing it wet. The rapid tac you used is for applying the graphic wet, clean window real good, spray rapid tac on window and back side of graphic after you pulled off backing, put it on the window and get it positioned then squeegee really good, let sit for a couple minutes and pull off transfer tape.

Default Re: applying vinyl

another trick besides making sure you are using even presure..
1. You have to make sure your tape is on flat..
2. You have to make sure you have a good squeegie.. (the gold 3M ones are best)
and feel the edge of your squeegie.. It needs to feel smooth and flat with no nicks or
bumps.

To sharpen your squeegie.. just run the edge back and forth against the ridge in the middle of a second squeege. this is why the ridges are in the middle of the - to sharpen them with. Just run it back and forth in the edge of the ridge to sharpen it.

I used at42 transfer tape. When I tried applying wet, it just slid around and wouldn't stick. Then the transfer tape glue started to get soft.
