Re: Application Tape I use the paper for everything and dont use the clear at all.
The clear is good for multiple layers.

Re: Application Tape we use paper tape for all our cut vinyl. and only use the clear for the stuff we print on the roland..
I know some shops use clear for regular vinyl too.. but im not fond of it..

Re: Application Tape i found out that if i leave the paper type on for long.. say it gets hot out side.. it dont wanna peal off .. lol.. i ruined some exit door signs i had made to keep on hand.. by having the paper kind on a for a few months lol.

Re: Application Tape I would suggest you try several differnt types and brands of tape. The R tape paper works good for large signs but it is hard to line up layers for outlined and shadowed work. R tape has what they call clear which isn't actually clear which works ok for layered work but it leaves more residue, they also make a Clear Choice which is clear,but not all suppliers carry it. There are also TransferRite and PolyTape which I find work just fine, the clear versions work great on mirrors with little residue. The secret is finding what works for you for the application you are doing. To find this out you need to try a lot of different kinds and types for yourself.
