Interesting thought... I don't know if anyone has done any kind of weather torture test on the heat press shirt vinyls... It would be a good question for Josh at Imprintables...
I do not mess with vinyl much. Didn't know if garment vinyl would hold up or if a sign vinyl, such as Oracal, would separate. Sign vinyl would certainly help out on the cost.
Not sure as to the source. The flags are customer supplied.
I have been applying vinyl to flags but they are nylon, I think the weave is about the same as the polyester. The issue I have had with the different vinyls is not sticking, all have stuck very well, it's been the glue seeping through the loose weave and being noticeable around the vinyl and on the back if it is a single layer flag. Videoflex has worked best so far, sticks very well, glue doesn't seep out or through but I had to cut with more force than any other vinyl I tried or it was a bear to weed.
hmmm...
just a quick thought that popped up as i was rading...
Couldn't you use Banner material to make a flag. If you grab the non finished kind without grommets and such?
Now I'm gonna have to try this? lol
Up until this point i haven't thought about flags that much, I use sublimation to do a few car flags every now and then.

Two vinyl suppliers both recommended heat press vinyl for the polyester flags. I used some EasyWeed vinyl and they turned out very nice...just as expected. For grins I tried some 651 vinyl as well. The heat press vinyl definately looks better. The fabric drapes much nicer. I believe the heat press vinyl will work great. I was just affraid of sign vinyl peeling after getting wet and flapping in the wind.
