Hi Fellas and first I want to say thanks I have enjoyed all of your post for the last month very informative.
I'm having a little issue and not sure what the problem is. I bought a gx-24 last month and I have read every where about how detailed it can cut but Im not getting the same results. when I cut small or cursive text and some detailed items my blade will pick up the vinyl or get caught on the blade inside the blade holder. I wouldn't think it was a dull blade I hav'nt cut that much with it. but then again maybe I got a bad blade? I think it is set up right I followed the manual and a few Youtube vids. Any Ideas? Also Need Opinions on replacement blades which are the best best?
How fine a detail are you trying to cut? What is the blade angle and plotter speed? What is your downforce setting? What kind of vinyl are you cutting? Can you post a pic of the graphic and its size?
sorry forgot those details
Im using a 45 deg blade that cam with it the font is'nt to detailed just 1" and even 2 or 3" cursive text but have noticed to that it also has been having probs cutting corners on block text and more simple designs, when I weed it, there will still be spots near the corners that are not cut and after its weeded you can tell the vinyl has been pulled at the corners. I have tried different speeds also still same result As for downforce ive tried 60 - 100 depending on vinyl I've mostly been using oracal 641 and 651
But still the same results.

I would try a 60 degree blade. I think the down force should be around 60 and you should cut slow. ..... JB

I went through the electronic mannual and it tells you how to adjust the offset up or down but it does not say why you would adjust it.
It would be nice to know more about how the offset will impact the cut, etc.
It also looks like the "Smoothing" option might be the issue. Roland says to turn off Smoothing if detailed cuts are getting rounded or impacted. I believe smoothing is for long sweeping curves not detail work.
yeah it has a test cut.. there is a button on the front to test..
Have you tried increasing the force.. I think that is prolly what is needed..
I have mine set at higher then it said in the book.. and it works fine..
just keep increasing till your test cut comes out prefect..
The test cut is perfect. So when you create text it doesnt cut the entire corner out or the paths dont join up? This happens no mater what sise text? Can you create a shape or a piece of clip art and does it cut that correctly? What design software are you using?

I know its not a force issue because I kept increasing it tell the backing material was getting cut way too much.
I know it's not the blade because I have swapped the blades out with different ones and I get the same thing.
The cut is perfect except for tiny areas ,throughout the design, that are left uncut.
I will first try turning the smoothing off and then adjust the offset if that doesn't work.
