Are there any videos that show how to do 2 color window or car graphics?
I finally purchased the correct vinyl (I hope) from Specialty Graphics to do window graphics and car graphics. My question is how to do a two color design. Lining the colors up will be hard since the vinyl has a white backing. Would I use magic mask to transfer it to the car since I would need the backing to be transparent? By the way, the film I bought is 4200 series vinyl film along with window juice application fluid and a 4" plastic squeegee. I also got R-Tape AT60 Medium Tack Application Tape 2". Am I on the right track?

Im not sure of the brands you listed above as they are not familar to me.. except R-Tape AT60 Medium Tack Application. I have used that tape ... My only concern would be only having 2 inch width on that..
Since you take the backing off before applying it to the car the color of the backing wont make any differance..
when im lining up differant colors.. I put a weed border around the whole design.. then lay my app tape into that area with the edges of my app tape being where the edges of the weed border is..
so when i lay my first piece if i have the line marked where the weed border is.. then place my second color in the same place the viny will be in the correct place..

I plan to use text with an outline... silver with blue but I will need to so images later. I am thinking the magic mask will help with lining them up. Should I make the outilne larger in Corel behind the fill to simulate trapping? Also... do you use an application fluid or apply dry?

i will see if i can take some pictures tommorow when im at the shop for you.. .
I cant find the words to explain.. its one of those things without pictures is just to hard..
I lay dry.. but many lay them wet.. its harder to get layers bubble free then just one layer of viny..
and i dont use clear tape when im laying them.. I use the mask type tape.

Why dont you just add reg. marks in all four coners of each layer. Apply the first layer and then do the hinge method with the second layer and line up the marks. I use clear app. tape on small layer decals with plenty of water. It really isnt that hard to do if you just use plenty of water.

does everyone layer them all together on a carrier sheet then one application to window or do each individually on the glass. The YouTube videos move pretty fast and it is hard to tell exactly what he is doing with the white piece each time he is making a decal.

After watching a few videos on YouTube I think I get it now.... The one that I watched though he had several overalapping layers, 4. I thought with the sense that I got from other threads that layers should be to a minimum. That outlines should be slightly trapped and that you shouldn't have a bunch of layers. Is this true? I'm sure I'll get mixed responses but let me know what you think. Thanks for everyone's help.

The transfer tape I got I think is used to transfer the different layers to the car or window. The magic mask carrier paper I have is about 15" in width.

You really should use the 2100 series vinyl for any long term application. The 4200 series has a shorter life span and will cause you problems with shrinking and pulling away from the window. Always use premium cast vinyl for any vehicle application. Also, you keep mentioning Magic Mask, you know that is for heat applied vinyl, right? Application tape (a size appropriate for the graphic you have) is different than Magic mask.

Nope rtape at60 is the transfer tape you will use for sign vinyl. I believe the magic mask is used for heat press things.
I could be wrong about the magic mask, but I know what the rtape is Believe me, you want wider then 2".

YUP i am 2nding what David said the rtape is the transfer tape.
You need to have a big enuff piece of transfer tape to cover the vinyl completely in one piece.
when we buy our transfer tape.. we buy it in a 48 inch wide roll.. and have them cut it to the lengths we need..
they will do 6 cuts on the roll free.. so i get like an 18 inch and a 12 inch and a 10 inch.. and so on to equal up to the 48 inchs.. its cheaper that way.. and then i always have the size i need availible.
I have it in every size from 20 inches down to 1 inch.
