Default tape

I am anxious to put on my USMC ensigna on something laying around here. However I don't have any application tape.
Can another type of tape be used in a pinch ?
I was thinking of the painters blue tape. Easily to remove but not to sticky to pull up the vinyl.
Or some other tape type ?

From reading I think I want to do the wet application so

I don't know of anything else. I recommend going to a local sign shop and asking them for some. If you don't want them to know you're "in the biz" tell 'em it's for a craft project your wife is doing and needing to transfer something.

When I worked for a sign shop (we made roadway and street signs) we used a masking tape looking application tape. It came in different sizes depending on the size of the sign we were making. It just seemed to be just less tacky than regular masking tape. However we ddin't wet the signs but rolled them under a pneumatic roller.
I could probably get some from them .
Think that would work or is the wet application tape different ?

Thanks
Mark

That sounds like transfer tape to me. It looks just like masking tape, but it is less sticky.

You probably shouldn't listen to a newbie, but I've always used clear contact self-liner. But I'm ditching that now that I'm learning more about supplies and materials. Anyway, if you just need something for yourself and easy to get, consider trying it out. It's pretty wide (maybe about 18 in.) and a roll from Rite-Aid costs about $4.00ish. I've used it several times myself, and it transfers fine (dry application). It may leave a bit of adhesive behind, which cleans easily, so it's a good idea to dull the adhesive down a bit with your hand or with a stick-peel, re-stick-peel method against something slick, before laying it on your graphic. I'll continue to use it for personal projects, and save the good stuff for sales.
