Well it was mostly on the curved car windows, like for example a honda prelude the back window is curved... but the windows that are straight up and down like the back of a toyota, it did not peel up.. we got hit hard this year on the snow and cold...
but i also noticed the guy in town did a window, and it was real warm for a few days shorts weather here recently and i noticed some of his lettering fell... not sure what he used.
i am in northern california and i usually get my stuff from signwarehouse but noticed that the 851 is 60 bucks a roll.
was looking for a better price.. best price on oracal i found was 55.00 is that the normal??
Great thanks that is what i thought... i am searching for a better price (arnt we all) and i found one for 52.00 a roll, but still searching for white. search feature is not all that great. there in KY but i think that after shipping it will prob be about the same as a california shop..
One other thing on car windows if Rain-X was used you have to remove it or the vinyl will not stay on very long! Bonami is what should be used to clean the windows!
There is a place in KY called H & H sign supply. The guy is great. I have tried what I thought was all vinyl in the last year. I, personally, like something called MacTec vinyl. It has worked well for me, but my temps may be different here.
we use calendard vinyl alot .. and have never had it fall off.. even on curves. I dont live in a snow area but still.. I just doesnt sound right.... I would say..that the vinyl applied either was old stock.. or that and most likely the window had sumthing on it.. .. like rain-x or even some windex has silicone in it that will affect how vinyl holds up..
When i sell the decals, i hardley ever put them on.. i have only put mine on myself, and i used rubbing alcohol to clean the window with.. i see the people that bought decals from me, and the snow hit them hard..
thank you to both for your replys.. i havent decided what brand to change to i think i am leaning more to the oracal 851 and raising my prices on them..
does you know what the going rate is to sell a 5x decal for with the oracal 851
i have the cost for the 651 down, but forgot how to do the math!
Hey charms have you tried signwarehouse. the oracal 651 is on $13.90 for 15 x 10 yrds, the 851 rolls are $33.90 for the 15 x 10 yrds. this is before shipping ofcourse. signwarehouse.com. hope this helps.
Use Oracal 851 Premium cast vinyls for car decals and save yourself the headaches. 751 is a decent go-to vinyl, but I personally would be ashamed to use 651 for anything other than very temporary jobs like step-stake corrugated signs.
851 is amazing stuff. I've used it for automotive/marine graphics, permanent signage, and even lettering scuba tanks.
It will only cost you a few cents to a dollar more a job to use the good stuff (which you could add to your estimates if you don't want to lessen your profits). Both you and your customers will be much happier in the long run.
Hello thank all for the replies.. i did get the 851 in the other day.. but i have to say it is soo hard to work with.. it seems spongy and the fine details lift out of the cut area and hard to weed it out.. any suggestions?
is there a certain setting to put the cutter on. i have a endura plus i got at SWH
i already have it on cut slow anything else??
