I was wondering if your can customize a skate board..design a skate board with your own graphics and logo then cut to size of the board and laminate. has anybody done this.. will the fitted decal stick to the board???
it should work fine. the most important issue would be a good digital vinyl with a good adhesive. we plan on putting the versa camm to work with our screen press. full color skate board graphics along with 1 & 2 color jobs...all for a local independent retail skate board store.
Good luck Erik and keep us informed. I have done a few logos and stickers to place over the original skate decoration but nothing yet for the whole surface. lets keep in touch because I allways felt that this can be business for the Versacamm guys, I just hadn't the time yet to try it.
Given the amount of rubbing and traffic the board will get, you may consider trying a floor laminate rather than a normal laminate for the finish. It is made for foot traffic and we use it for anythign that is going to walked, run or is generally not on a sign.
My theory is this. Use cast vinyl. No need for laminate. The thinner the better because after a couple rail slides you go through to the wood anyway. Take a heat gun to it to secure the application.
If you really want to laminate I wonder if you could use that spray laminate???
Anyone ever have success with spray laminate? And can you even use it on solvent ink prints??? hmmmmmm
I will tell you if they stick or not. Im getting ready to do a print, laminate, and then attempt to board slide. Wish me luck!!
I kinda thought you could do a full skate board wrap.. customize a board then add the wheels.. make a template of the board size using the versacamm add the laminate.. kind of like a full decal or a wrap??? I think this would be a hit???
I think i would look into this vinyl and Laminate for that application Convex™ Vinyls & Laminates Conform to Curves
Its thicker.. and heaver..
made for things that get heavy use
Perhaps call the company they would tell you if there product would work well.
