Default Anybody Into Vinyl for Home Decor???

Is anybody doing the vinyl decals for interior design/home decor? There are a lot of websites popping up selling this type of thing. It is designed for interior walls, showers, furniture, etc. I was wondering what type of vinyl is used. I'm guessing the vinyl I used for car window decals seems too glossy and probably isn't the same thing. Anybody know what kind of vinyl they are using? It would need to stick well to textured walls.

Here's one of the businesses I'm referring to:
Uppercase Living™

thanks,
rusty

yup, we do alot of that stuff. We are actually doing a workshop next month in the store to show people how to install it in their own homes.

We use pretty much everything. Some like the glossy stuff, some like the matt. The only thing we find is that fonts that are very fine tend to have a hard time sticking. But other than that, we havent had any issues at all with any of the interior or exterior vinyl we have used.

Thanks,
So is there a specific kind of vinyl for interior? I just use Oracal 651 for all my window stuff. What do you use for interior?

I use what ever I have in the color they want. The interior stuff is cheaper tho. But I am not going to buy a whole roll of black interior when I have a roll of oracal.

Alot of the interior stuff we have is from fdc. If someone wants lime green, and you can only get it in oracal...then thats what you use.

I wouldnt go out and buy specific vinyl for wall quotes. I would suggest buying the higher grade vinyl. That way you can still use it for your windows and signs. Otherwise you are stuck with a whole roll of say....interior matt copper...which is very very nice, but you cant use it outside. (which is a shame, I love the color)

Thanks, good information. I buy my vinyl at Graphic Solutions which sells it by the yard, so I would probably just buy it as it was needed.

thanks

I have also cut a lot of "frosted vinyl" for front doorway, bay windows and cabinets with glass front doors. It makes it look like etched glass and even comes in a few colors. It expensive compared to other vinyl but really worth it.

You do need to make sure that the vinyl will stick to the wall.
Alot of vinyls have a problem sticking for long to walls painted with latex paint.

Sounds cool. Do you know what brand vinyl it is?

Yeah, that's part of the reason I'm asking this here, to see what types will work on painted, textured walls. Good point.

I ran across an article about using vinyl inside an office for decoration just within the last 72 hours, but can't think right now where I saw it! If I find it, I will post. I may have bookmarked the site.

This is very neat stuff and yet another market for the versatile vinyl product!

Not the site I ran across the other day, but actually these pics are better and perhaps equally inspirational:

miraentuinterior.com - Graphical vinyl decoration for interiors
(This site is very cool, as it gives the visitor a means to select the wall color and the vinyl graphic color to see how they will look together; also shown is a video installation)

Decorate your walls with quotes, phrases, and words that inspire with Vinyl Inspirations vinyl wall lettering

From other sites I saw about wall vinyl, I read that it's simply a high quality, matte vinyl. I'm sure you can search out some of the known brands and tag it.
