Let's see the decal, I am VERY new to this as well. I have found differnt types of vinyl weed better then others as well as the pressure of the cut...

Are you sure your blade is sharp? The only time I have trouble weeding is when my blade is starting to dull. I do a lot of these with very intricate fonts and ornamentals and never have a problem. I'm using Oracal 651 and a very inexpensive cutter (with good Roland blades).

first off im using a roland GX-24 which i had for about three months using the same blade and i have not done that much cutting but perhabs by playing around with the force i might have worn it out already. it came with an extra one maybe i will try that one.

Roger: i am having a hard time weeding. i just cant get it to weed iI tried from 110 grams of force to 150g and still the same although with to much force i noticed it starts to pull up a little. the most difficult part of the image is the fancy tails at the end and bebinning of the letters. i have tried oracle 751 and the one i got from stahls.

what font are you using manny - and how big is the lettering? post a jpeg of the design - you don't need to get one weeded first

You might try adjusting the depth of your blade, with the amount of pressure you are explaining it sounds like blade depth, I doubt if you have dulled that blade, I don't own a Roland but I cut at about 70 grams pressure oracal 651, so try that blade thing.

There are variables here not being addressed in order to give the best advice.

1.) What size is the image you are cutting/weeding? If it's small, it's going to be really hard to weed, no matter what.
2.) Are you 100% certain that your blade is in good shape? I know blades can last months, but they can also last hours. It all depends on the quality of that ONE particular blade. Every now and then a lemon slips through QC.

If you can post a jpg image of the decal (from your cutting software, not the actual decal) and let us know how large the lettering is, we may be better able to help you here.

Also, try cutting just a simple square and weed THAT, see if it comes up. If not, chances are your blade is shot.

If it is a real small decal, you might try to put the transfer paper on then peel the decal from the backing and then weed. The adhesive on the transfer paper is more aggressive and will hold the decal better.

+1

Also, certain fonts should be avoided. There are some that are just terrible to weed.

That is a good idea i will try that. i still had no luck i havent tried it since my post but i got one thats it. i noticed what was killing me is were the M sections meet inside the lines were to close and would get so thin that it would not weed i figured i should go in and widen it up a bit but havent tried yet. i will try to post a pic of what i was trying to do as soon as i have time thanks for all the suggestion more are welcome is there is more. by the way the size i was trying to weed was 10x5. also this is sign vinyl so i dont think it is backwards.

you might want to try a different font - something with no serif - like VAG round - it's got a nice wide stroke even at small letter size and rounded edges.

10x5 should be quite big enough. Post a pic of the decal if you can or post the file itself and we can take a look and see how it cuts and weeds for some of us.
