Default Sign Vinyl

I have recently purchased a Roland GX24. I mostly have been using it for t shirts, but I did buy some sign vinyl on Ebay..anyway, when I tried to use it for decals almost every roll had 'tunnels' in it as it unrolled and fed into the cutter...if I take the roll out, and re wind it, it looks fine, but try to flatten it out...and it jumps up and creates these long lines across the roll. Can I do anything about it? am I doing something wrong? or did I just buy junk from Ebay? I do not have the same problem with the t shirt vinyl. I'm in hot and humid Florida if that makes any difference!

sounds like the vinyl you got is older than dirt sadly....probably not gonna be good for much. heat and humidity makes the adhesive go nuts, but won't cause the kind of tunneling you're getting. sorry

Aaaahhh...that would explain it! Well, I didn't lose much, it was pretty cheap....I just bought it to play around with. It's good to know that I won't have to contend with that when I buy more expensive stuff!

The other problem with "Ebay" vinyl from what we found is it is not rolled onto a cardboard core and is wound too tight of radius. I think it needs the core to hold a larger radius so it doesn't get deformed.

Yes, they were skinny little rolls...that was something I had thought could have been a problem. But then I thought, surely they (the seller) would know this since they are a dealer of that particular vinyl? that's why I was wondering if I were doing something wrong, or there were something I could do to change the outcome...

Maybe your vinyl was actually a type of home decoration foil, you know the kind that's sold in public stores instead of real sign vinyl. The home deco stuff never comes on cores either, and is not really good for cutting because of the tunneling effect. Weeding this stuff is a pain in the ... and transferring a drama because of the low tack.
Then better buy the cheapest type from a brand name to experiment with, it's good enough for a while indoor
