Try a heatpress vinyl..thermoflex etc. Ive had success on some untreated boat canopiies, I believe if it has a stainguard/weatherproofing it may not work.
I know an old signguy that every year redoes lettering on an awning ..hand lettered w/ 1-shot sign enamel...he's never tried heatpress vinyl on it and I really dont have much experience with awnings myself.
If you have samples of the awning, I would try a thermoflex type material.
Good luck.

P.s Ive done alot of awnings(the plastic nylon type) with sign vinyl and held up for many years.

Thanks, I'll just have to do a trial and error on this one I guess.

If I am not mistaken, Sunbrella has a coating on it for to repel water....let me know what your outcome is.....I have done awnings for onto a building w/ sign vinyl, but they were not of the Sunbrella....other cloth awnings I have had luck w/ heat vinyl...EcoFilm here....but they were not Sunbrella awnings.
