No error message, it just stops. When you hit cut again it will finish the cut. It does it mainly on simple images with 4 to 6 corners. It will not do it if there is a whole word.
What software are you using? I am assuming that is where you are telling it to cut again. Also did you try unpluging the machine for a little bit? I believe that refreshes the memory.
Cover the optical eye with tape. The vinyl is lifting a little bit off the cutter and the machine thinks the sheet popped out.

I had that problem when I first got mine. I was running too much pressure to cut and mine would stop halfway thru. I assumed the motor was getting overworked and getting hot, I guess there is a thermal protector on the machine but I am not sure. Anyway I backed off the pressure and have not had a problem since. Adjust it with your test cut you just want a light score on the carrier....
