Default New to vinyl cutting, what the best cutter?

What vinyl cutter would you recommend

I have been looking at the Roland gx-24

is this a pretty decent cutter and would that be big enough for signage

or should I go with the GX PRO-300 36" Vinyl Cutter / Plotter

I will be using it for t-shirts and jerseys, signage, window stickers, vehicle decals, misc.

Thanks for any information,
Kaitlin

We definitely found out to go bigger than what you originally think because the bigger machines can do the smaller materials but the smaller machines will not do the larger. So you will end up having to turn down a lot of the larger jobs because your equipment will not do it.

My vote goes to the Roland for ease of use. The 24 inch should do the job for shirts, but I'm not sure if you'll need a wider cutter for window sticker jobs.

Yes, I completely agree with you on Roland. We have the Versacamm, but we went with the 540VP instead of the smaller one because on the limitation of the size and have found that it was really best that we did. We have not had to turn away the larger jobs because we can do the larger sizes and you would be surprised how often we seem to get the orders for 4 ft banners or signs. I just think the 24 inch will be too small for a lot of the vehicle sticker business.

if you're just starting out i think the gx-24 is fine. how many signs are you going to need 24" letters? but if it's within your budget, go big.
